In a bid to capture the telecom market aggressively, Reliance has now launched the JioFi portable Wi-Fi hotspot and is priced at Rs 1999 along with free Jio services till December 31 this year.

Reliance had recently launched its Jio 4G services which had the cheapest tariff plans for internet and calls. Now adding to it the company has now announced the JioFi portable Wi-Fi hotspot. The Wi-Fi hotspot called the JioFi is able to support up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices and also through the USB. It contains an OLED display which provides data regarding network strength, Wi-Fi status and a lot of other things. Multiple users will be allowed to access the internet via Jio 4G internet also by creating personal Wi-Fi hotspots. HD voice calls to video calls to messaging via Jio4GVoice app are the added new features. The Wi-Fi hotspot will be fueled by a 2,300mAh battery which the company has claimed will deliver almost 6 hours of life in the device.

The Reliance JioFi hotspot can be purchased by customers by visiting the nearest Reliance stores like Retail, Digital or Digital Xpress Mini store. The customers will need to carry with then both original and photocopy of valid proof of address and identity. Along with it, a passport sized photograph will be required. Now the consumers, in order to activate data will be needed to call on a number ‘18008901977’ from the mobile device which is registered with the service. Then an app called the ‘Jio4GVoice’ will be needed to install. In order to activate it, the consumer will need to call on the number 1977. Initially, Reliance has brought in an offer called Jio Preview Offer which will give users access to unlimited data. It will also have HD voice, SMS service and many other Jio services. The Jio services include JioCinema, JioTV, JioDrive and Jio Money. This service from the day the SIM gets activated will be available for three months. In its introductory Jio welcome offer, Reliance, offered free data, voice and video calls all over the country and many other apps till the end of the year.
